Piercing light blue eyes gazed at the most popular girl in Konoha High School, Eyeing her with such affection that any girl would die have their crush look at them with such tenderness.

"Okay class, starting today I will be assigning projects to everyone. The project is fairly simple, plant your favorite plant...flower. Whatever. Just have it by the due date. I'll also be assigning your partners, so that some people can actually concentrate and not goof off."

The silver hair teacher calmly stated as he posted up a piece of paper on the bulletin board that had who was partnered with who. All the classmates rushed over to see who would be partnered with who, except one who really wasn't in a hurry to find out as no one really wanted to be partnered with him unless they had to.

"Ah! Come on! Stop pushing Choji!"

"Same to you Naruto."

"Are you serious? He gets to be (name)'s partner?"

Shikamaru calmly stated as he read the paper as the others followed suit, Gaara made his way to the paper calmly until he actually read what had everyone in a worry.

"My partner ....is (name)."

"Lucky!"

All the boys say in unison as they soon stood up straightened as their faces turned a bright shade of red. Gaara felt a hand on his shoulders as his eyes met with familiar eyes that he knew like the the back of his hand.

"Gaara! We're partners! Cool huh?"

(Name) was smiling at him.

(Name) was actually talking to someone like him.

Gaara's mind blanked.

"Yeah."

Gaara mentally cursed himself as that was those simple words left his lips, as he couldnt think of anything cool to say like Sasuke Uchiha.

"So what flower do you want to plant?"

"Cacti."

Gaara calmly stated as his calm expression never left him as he spoke to (name), (name) smiled and nodded in agreement to the red-head.

"I've never planted a cactus before. Although first thing for everything right?"

"Right."

"How about we plant it at your house?"

Gaara simply nodded in agreement with (name) as he walked to his next class, even though on the outside he looked calm and collected on the inside he was quite happy.

"Eh?! We have to wait how long?"

"We don't have to wait. I have already planted the cacti, we simply need to make sure it is taken care of."

"Oh."

The girl replied back as she eyed the beautiful cacti with full bloom roses on it, with its thorns sticking out as though to protect it. Gaara glanced at (name) as she paid attention to the plant, a simple question left his smooth lips.

"Do you like it?"

"I love it. I will make sure it is well taken care of."

Gaara nodded as he was about give the plant extra sunlight instead his hand brushed against (name)'s hand making him jump in surprise. (Name) on the other hand smiled at Gaara with that bright smile that made Gaara's heart buzz with joy.

"Sorry, Gaara."

"Please. Don't be."

The school bell rang as students made their way to their classes as (name) reaches to gather her stuff but was interrupted as another pair of hands snatched them away. (Name)'s eyes met icy teal eyes, making a dash of red appear on his face.

"I'll carry these for you."

"Thank you, Gaara."

Gaara nodded as (name) and himself walked to their next class together while talking to one another, ignoring each other's crush group of fans.

"Welcome to the Ice Cream Shop, may I take your order please?"

It has been a total of four months since this project started and with each passing day, Gaara and (name) had grown to know each other more than they realized.

"Strawberry."

"Chocolate."

Gaara and (name) had each said each other's favorite dessert in unison, suddenly blushing and watching the ground with sudden interest.

"Bleh!"

Gaara opened the window letting in some from fresh air as (name) finished her nausea spell, with a gentle tuck back in the bed Gaara puts a cold wash cloth on her forehead while reaching for the medicine and holding it up in fascination.

"How much do I pour for you?"

"What does the instruction say?"

(Name) replied in a groggy manner as Gaara continued eyeing the medicine then with out saying anything he pours some in a small round cup.

"Here. Drink it all."

"Eh?! That looks like a lot, Gaara."

"You have to trust me."

(Name) thought for a second as she eventually took the medicine and swallowing it with a bitter face expression.

"Ok. I'm off to school."

"Have fun. Oh! By the way. I did your homework for you."

Gaara was walking towards the door when he heard what had just left (name)'s lips as he looks behind him to see her with a thumbs up, A small smirk graced Gaara's lips.

"I see, thank you."

"You're welcome."

Gaara left quietly shutting the door behind him as he dreaded going to school leaving (name) behind, a thought occurred in the handsome male's head as he mentally reminded himself to pick up a bear from the store after school.

"He was how small?"

"Mother! Don't show her that!"

"Look (name)! This is Gaara as a kid! Look that face!"

Temari was holding a picture of Gaara as child while his mother was holding up a picture of Gaara as a small baby with a smile much to the teenagers dismay.

"He was adorable! May I photo copy this?"

"Of course. I'll even pay for it."

Gaara sat beside his brother at the table while burying his head in his hands while the girls continued discussing his early child hood, his face matches that of his fiery red hair. At least (name) thought he was cute, that made up for the embarrassment.

Gaara heard (name) blowing her nose as he finished reading Romeo and Juliet to her while in his arms leaning against a tree while sitting down. The sun was shining brightly as the brushed past them.

"Gaara...I said to read me a happy story."

"It was happy. They ended up together in the end."

"Bless you and your dark humor."

(Name) replied as blew her nose again, Gaara didn't reply as he lays his head on her shoulder, his arms wrapped around her waist.

"So this is your project?"

"Looks nice, doesn't it teacher."

Kakashi nodded his in agreement as he wrote down an "A" for excellence on their project paper, (name) smiled as she then kisses Gaara on his cheek making him blush while looking down at the floor.

"Look. We got an "A", you're awesome Gaara."

"It was nothing. Your help was greatly appreciated."

Gaara replied as he gently grabs (name)s hand causing the other boy to gasp in shock as they left hand and hand.

"Aww, you and your modesty. Hey, I made you lunch lets go eat."

"Sure."

The class was speechless as Gaara and (name) left, all the boys grumbled that their life was over. Gaara overheard their whining as evidence of a small smile etched on Gaara face as the thorny plant stood firm yet graceful, evidence that he and (name) took great care of it...just like their relationship.

"Gaara! Watch out!"

Naruto yelled as one of his pranks of a falling water bucket ontop of the door, unfortunately Naruto's warning was too late as the bucket fell.

everyone waited for the sound of a metal bucket falling to the ground, when the bucket finally fell everyone opened their eyes to see Gaara being held the same way a groom carries his bride out the church by (name). Gaara face was dusted a light pink as he looks at (name) with slight surprise, in return she smiled back at him saying.

"are you okay?"

As Gaara replied

"yeah I'm fine."
